Moving Insurance
While we take all the necessary precautions to protect your household goods and vehicles, there are some factors that are out of our control. Some of these are; the weather, accidents, vibration, movements and pressure. For these reasons we strongly encourage our customers to insure their move for peace of mind.
Choosing the right moving insurance is an essential part of the relocation process. We have a wide range of comprehensive insurance options available to choose from to keep your effects covered.
Transit Insurance
Just like you have contents insurance in your own house; it makes perfect sense to insure your possessions when moving them to another country. We provide our clients with total peace of mind when moving to New Zealand by offering a comprehensive transit insurance cover.
We will provide you with a list of standard household items with their estimated values. You will have to consider the current value, condition, and age of your possessions. We make a special effort to make it easy for the client to understand how the transit insurance works and what’s covered.
Insurance Coverage
When moving your personal possessions to New Zealand, you have to ensure that they’re well-covered in case something unexpected happens. It’s highly unlikely that it will, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
Our comprehensive transit insurance is there to take care of this problem – it reimburses the client for accidental damage or loss of his belongings. The coverage begins once the client’s possessions are packed and takes effect during the transit, all the way until the goods are finally delivered to your desired destination. Don’t let the element of risk surprise you!
Electrical & Mechanical Derangement Insurance
It is often the case that our clients want to transport some mechanical and electrical goods to their new home in New Zealand. This includes items such as various household appliances, electronic devices, washing machines, gadgets, etc. For such occasions, we offer comprehensive electrical & mechanical derangement insurance.
It is available in addition to our standard transit insurance and is something that covers the possible derangement of our client’s personal devices and appliances. Despite there being no evidence of it, derangement can very much occur during the transit – it’s best to have your goods insured from it
Storage Insurance
As you can see in our “How Long Does It Take to Ship a Car?” outline, it can take quite some time to have your goods transported to New Zealand from Europe or North America. While they’re in the container for all that time you’ll want to make sure that they’re well-insured against possible damage.
Our transit policy will cover your possessions while in storage for 60 (international moves) or 30 (domestic moves) days. In case the client needs further storage, they are required to request a policy extension in order to keep the policy current.
Claims Procedure
Even though everyone hopes that it will never happen, sometimes things can go wrong and items can get damaged during the transit.
Fortunately, we have a well-proven and established procedure when it comes to claims handling. In case the client’s possessions sustain any damage during the transport, they can contact our office and get the claim form emailed to them. Once we receive your completed form, we’ll start working with our insurance broker to ensure a quick settlement.
